FRAU TONI, how did you get your passion for unique fragrances?
My mother inspired me. Many years ago, when I smelled her pure, clear fragrances and perfumes I just felt happy and pleased. All these were symbols of confidence combined with strength and elegance. For me, she symbolised an extraordinary and very delicate femininity, even if she was only a housewife with four children and an exhausting life in East Prussia.
What makes a perfume extraordinary, that you want to share it with others?
For me a perfume has not to have only a nice aroma. If you smell it you will have to get wonderful pictures in your mind. Your skin has to feel tingly. When I smell an amazing tuberose I feel natural elegance. I still remember my mother put on this perfume before going out. It has a very feminine touch and is also dynamic and modern. I really like the top note of this fragrance.
Why did you choose the small, very fine perfumery in Berlin Mitte?
I realised my dreams together with my granddaughter. She has lived in Berlin for a couple years and as she told me about the possibility of a store at Alte Schönhauser Strasse and the wonderful lively district I said yes, let's do it!
Both of us thought, today there are excessive offers of perfumes! Fashion, celebrities, all these fashion labels? Sometimes it's just an excuse to place a new perfume, isn't it? I am persuading that the creation of fragrances is an art we have to appreciate. Today, fragrances are to much affected by marketing. I don't like this. They are not impressing! The result: A lot of them disappear very soon from the market!
What is your opinion about the situation of these high quality perfumes made in manufactures?
The quality of the raw materials has to be perfect. Additional, the service and the presentation of the perfume have to focus on the essential, the fragrances. It is impossible to get this from a self-service store! This is my association about beauty and special shopping atmosphere.
What is your favourite fragrance?
I love the aroma of tuberose as well as the smoothly smell of oranges. Close your eyes and you feel the warmness of this fragrance. It just makes my happy!
