OUD / JOUX

Frau Tonis' exclusive room fragrance for „AM TACHELES“

JOUX is an avant-garde residential building designed by Herzog & de Meuron for the new AM TACHELES quarter of Berlin’s Mitte district.

OUD/JOUX - Exceptional Architecture

Frau Tonis Parfum has created an extraordinary room fragrance for the apartments of the JOUX: OUD / JOUX. Discreet and stimulating at the same time, noble and obstinate. Great architecture - translated into fine aromas. In OUD / JOUX, oud - the resin of the eaglewood tree - combines the tart, citrusy aromas of bergamot as well as notes of sandalwood, tobacco, incense, amber and cedar. Pure, delicate and exciting at the same time.

The JOUX is an avant-garde residential building from the architects Arno Brandlhuber and Muck Petzet. Frau Tonis has created for them a room fragrance that makes a sensual connection with the extraordinary architecture of the building.

The free play of materials characterizes the architects' design: Aluminum, pink marble, tinted glass, exposed concrete and oak wood surfaces form a visual composition that is complimented on the olfactory side by an equally precious blend.

THE SOUL OF AN APARTMENT IS ITS SCENT.

OUD / JOUX is of timeless elegance, combined with courage and innovation. As a reminder of our humanity, in all its contradictions and complexity.

Arno Brandlhuber + Muck Petzet designed the impressive JOUX - in the heart of the city quarter AM TACHELES. A short excerpt from an interview with the architects provides insights into their inspiration and thoughts.

What makes the JOUX special in a nutshell?
AB: The JOUX has great qualities: it is well protected inside the city quarter and not directly on the street.
At the same time, it has a special expressiveness and each apartment benefits from the landscaped courtyard, right in the middle of the city.

You both like to work with concrete and rough materials and have added a fashionable component with the JOUX.
MP: What's very exciting for us with the JOUX is that it was possible to be more free with materials and work in a way that interests us.

A house in shades of pink. Quite bold. Or even trendy?
MP: Neither. But I find it very interesting that color is a theme. No one talks, for example, about the light yellow that keeps appearing in architecture and that I find much more questionable. In the urban context and in the entire urban district AM TACHELES, the color will fit in perfectly.
